About Me

I've been athletic since I was a kid. As an adult, running and weight training became such a big part of my life that I wanted to share all I was learning with my family and friends. One day a light went on, and I realized, "I can make a career out of what I love best." That was 1998, and I'm still doing what I love: helping my clients find their way to personal fitness.
I practice what I preach about being fit and healthy. For example, recently I was planning to run the NY marathon, but a problem with my hip put me two weeks behind schedule for my training. I decided not to run that race. Postponing events and being smart about injuries has been part of my personal maturing process, and I pass that knowledge and intelligence along to my over-40 clients.
I earned my CPT (certified personal trainer) credential through the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) in 2001, with a focus on anatomy and physiology. I renew my certification every two years with 20 hours of continuing education. I also maintain current CPR certification through the Red Cross. In addition, I stay abreast of new trends and improved techniques in sports training.
I am a career trainer. It's what I do full time, and where all my professional energy is focused. I've worked with people facing a variety of serious issues, like heart conditions, obesity and chronic lower back pain, as well as healing from broken bones, surgery, or other injuries. Many of my clients come to me to help them lose weight and get back on the road to wellness and vitality. I have empathy and respect for anyone confronting a health-threatening condition.
I am proud to be a trainer. I take seriously the trust my clients place in me and appreciate the positive role I play in their lives. And I really get involved! If you don't know what kind of shoes or home equipment to buy, we'll go to the store together. If you don't know how to read nutrition labels, I'll take you grocery shopping. If you need help getting rid of all the junk food in your house, I'll help you clean out your cabinets. Whatever you need to reach your goals, including motivation, instruction, or an appointment on the calendar, I'll be there for you.
